Finalists for 2022-23 Career Grants

Houston’s oldest opera company, The Gilbert & Sullivan Society of Houston, has awarded over $100,000 in scholarships to students over the years. The G&S Society of Houston’s Career Grants are open to any vocal professional 35 years of age or younger as of January 28, 2023. Thank you to all who applied. The finalists for 2022-23 are:

Katherine Dobbs, Mezzo-Soprano.  Grafton, WI
Catherine Goode, Soprano.  Friendswood, TX
Lily Guerrero, Soprano.  Austin, TX
Mariam Mouawad, Mezzo-Soprano.  Houston, TX
Mariah Muehler, Soprano.  New York, NY
Krista Pape, Soprano.  Blue Springs, MO
Cristino Perez, Bass-Baritone.  Houston, TX
Laura Sanders, Soprano.  Houston, TX
Brian Yeakley, Tenor.  Houston, TX

The finalists will compete for the awarding of the grants during the finals in Houston on January 28th. The grants to be awarded that day are:

  • 1st Prize of $2,500
  • 2nd Prize of $1,500
  • 3rd Prize of $750
  • An audience favorite award of $500.
